In Evelyn's book
'Until Death Do Us Part'
she is accounting her life of horror and
fear living with an abuser husband. Her
story is not to glorify her life
although it is also a history lesson as
it tells of the times when our country
was at war and how it was living in that
era. It tells of a generation that was
proud and honorable. Evelyn's story is a
story that takes place in many homes
throughout the U. S. and the world and
it's still kept hush, hush by the
victims and by the law. It's the dirty
little secret that has to be shouted
from the roof tops in order to make
people aware of the signs to look for
and to reach out and help those who
can't and won't help themselves. For
whatever reason people are ashamed,
scared and reluctant to say anything
about what goes on behind their closed
doors. Through Evelyn's book it makes
the reader well aware that perhaps the
signs are there right under their noses
and they need to speak up and help those
in need. I challenge the reader to get
this book and be sure to set aside
plenty of time when you sit down to read
it because you won't be able to put it
down! This book is sure to become a
movie someday and after you read it you
will understand why!

Evelyn's newly edited book
'Until Death Do Us Part' takes a
hard look at domestic violence. It
brings one up close and personal
with the author's personal life
experience. Harrowing, nail biting,
and hair raising non-fiction. But,
although it is an autobiographical
account, it speaks a universal
language to all who are or have been
in abusive relationships. Every DV
shelter should have a copy on their
shelves, in my opinion. And it
should be required reading for all
of the thousands of volunteers who
answer the DV crises lines.

It takes a lot of courage for
anyone to make public such
private and personal sorrows of
one's life, making one
vulnerable to all manners of
criticisms and unkind remarks.
So I cannot praise Evelyn enough
for lifting up the banner of
abuse that might save anyone or
someone from becoming a victim,
a headline, a statistic. I
myself have purchased this book
and given it to a woman in such
a situation. The true statistics
of abuse are like seeing but the
tip of an iceberg with all of
the miles and miles of ice
hidden underneath of the water,
BUT, the tip only proves the
depth of the iceberg. It's
there. We need to melt it, so we
do not have to bury its victims!
