Transcript of Daniels Hearing to Change Plea to Guilty
THE COURT: You are changing your plea today, I
understand. You understand, of course, that you are entitled to a
jury trial in this matter?
MR. DANIELS: Yes, Your Honor.
THE COURT: Have there been any promises of
any type or nature that have led to you to change your plea or are
you doing so voluntarily?
MR. DANIELS: Yes, Your Honor. I change my
plea voluntarily.
THE COURT: Are you prepared at this time to
enter a plea?
MR. DANIELS: Yes, Your Honor.
THE COURT: To the charge of murder in the
first degree, you, shortly after you stalked her and broke into her
home, struck Rachel Susan Miller, repeatedly on various parts of her
body, with a hammer, a wrench, your fists and your feet, causing
profuse bleeding, and multiple fractures on April 13, 2000, which
led to her death and that of a six week fetus on April 26, 2000, to
this charge, how do you plead, guilty or not guilty?
MR. DANIELS: I did strike her, yes, Your
Honor.
THE COURT: Mr. Daniels, I'll ask you again.
To the charge of murder in the first degree for the death of Rachel
Susan Miller, and that of an unborn child, how do you plead? Guilty
or not guilty?
MR. DANIELS: I plead Guilty, Your Honor, to
these charges.
THE COURT: Thank you.
